*UPDATED* ‘Muppets Most Wanted’ to Feature Brand New Muppet? Plus Character Descriptions (Tiny Spoilers)

From stichkingdom.com

When Disney produced The Muppets in 2011, it introduced a brand new character, Walter. Given Walter’s wide acceptance into the already established Muppet family — by both fans and Muppets alike, it only makes sense that the opportunity is seized in the sequel to introduce another new Muppet to the world (at least one, anyway).

The news comes to us by way of production notes for Muppets Most Wanted provided to us by Walt Disney Studios, who mentions her by name (or at all) just once and in a very manner-of-fact manner. Referring to sets that had to be built that would take all Muppet sizes into consideration, production designer Eve Stewart notes that Muppet sizes range from the seven-foot tall Sweetums to the two-foot tall Carmen. So there you have it, Carmen is two feet tall.

UPDATE: Since our initial report, Disney has revised the notes to substitute Carmen with Kermit.

We have also been provided with official character descriptions from the film, but nothing too spectacular here, just some filler for your amusement:

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Kermit the Frog enjoys the Muppets’ return to fame following their latest big-screen hit — until they kick off a global tour and he’s mistaken for the World’s Number One Criminal, Constantine.

Constantine is the World’s Number One Criminal — and a dead ringer for Kermit. Despite his prowess in all things evil, Constantine does not share Kermit’s natural talents on stage.

Dominic Badguy (pronounced ‘Badgee’ –  it’s French!) is a handsome opportunist who books the Muppets on a grand global tour. What they don’t realize is that he’s really Constantine’s dastardly sidekick aka Number Two.

Miss Piggy is a fashion icon, super diva who delights in the news of the Muppets’ global tour — starring her, of course, in her best performances ever. Even better, overseas adventures are ripe with romance. Oh Kermie! (Or is it?)

Nadya is a feisty prison guard. She does her homework and is always one step ahead. Nothing gets by Nadya.

Jean Pierre Napoleon is an Interpol agent who’s charged with solving an elaborate crime spree. He’s not alone in his mission, however, as Sam the Eagle, CIA, is assigned to the same case.

Fozzie hits the stage in some of Europe’s grandest theaters, bringing the comic stylings of the funniest — and only — stand-up bear to a global audience. Wocka! Wocka!

Walter, a superfan-turned-actual-member-of-the-Muppets-gang, brings his voice of reason to the Muppets’ global tour. And they’re gonna need it.

Animal dreams of a drum solo in the Muppets’ global tour. A shaggy appetite with legs, Animal is a gentle soul with a knack for LOUD — but he can sense when something’s awry.

Gonzo, a poultry-loving daredevil and plumbing aficionado, makes a breakthrough in entertainment and personal injury with a new act that just oozes with European flavor: indoor running of the bulls.

Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling our grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine — the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit — and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais.

The film stars Golden Globe-, Emmy- and SAG Award®-winning actress and writer Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Emmy Award winner Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon. The new film will hit the big screen March 21, 2014.
