From the Hollywood Reporter
ABC's/Disney's "The Muppets" has sold to 122 territories worldwide.
Disney Media Distribution on Monday confirmed that the new series has been snatched up by broadcasters in 122 territories worldwide, in countries ranging from the U.K. and Italy, to China, South Africa, the Middle East and Australia.
“The international sales are a testament to the appeal of these lovable characters and taps into the TV nostalgia of our youth, while the fantastic writers and production team bring a very modern take to the series,” said Ben Pyne, President, Global Distribution, Disney Media Networks in a statement.
Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory) and Bob Kushell (Anger Management) are co-writers and executive producers of the new Muppet Show, with Randall Einhorn and Bill Barretta also executive producing. ABC Studios is producing the show together with The Muppets Studio. The international roll-out of The Muppets will vary according to territory, with some countries going out day-and-date with the U.S. and others staggering the show to better fit their schedules. Aussie Muppet fans, for example, will have to wait until next year for the series' local bow.
