"Fraggle Rock" is coming to YouTube

The Jim Henson Company announced a partnership with YouTube-based multichannel network Base79 to bring shows such as Fraggle Rock, Pajanimals, and Sid the Science Kid to a global audience.

Base79 is to use its proprietary technology and industry expertise to build the Jim Henson Company’s YouTube presence and to develop a larger audience for its programming. The company’s Los Angeles office, led by exec Ben Lister, will handle rights management and advertising sales.

Lister said, “The Jim Henson Company has been a key part of the fabric of family entertainment for over 50 years, helping to define high quality innovative family programming with global appeal. We are very excited and honored to be able to help The Jim Henson Company establish their business on YouTube.”

Interestingly, there’s no mention of the Muppets as one of the properties that Base79 will be handling. Looks like Disney has Kermit and the gang firmly under lock and key.

The Jim Henson Company joins other companies including The Associated Press, Guinness World Records, and Magic Light Pictures who have already partnered with Base79. The multichannel network is also home to popular YouTubers such as Remi Gaillard, Jamal Edwards, Patricia Bright and ElRubius.
