VIDEO: Jim Henson plaque unveiled in Borehamwood

To commemorate the life of the man who created the infamous Muppets, a plaque dedicated to Jim Henson was unveiled today in Borehamwood.

The plaque, placed across the road from Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, was unveiled by those who worked with The Muppets creator including Louise Gold, Jocelyn Stevenson, Martin G Baker and Barry Wilkinson.

The Mayor, Richard Butler, and other councillors were also part of the unveiling ceremony.

Martin Baker, one of the many people who worked with Jim Henson, said: “Jim loved working here, the people here and the crews.

“It has been 25 years since he died and The Muppets were never the same since then.”

Mr Baker said: “I started the post room and made my way up through promotions and worked on The Muppet Show.”

The unveiling of the plaque was known to people across Borehamwood and even reached die-hard Muppet fans from all over the UK.

Some fans travelled as far as Portsmouth and further just to see the unveiling and the puppeteers who worked with Jim Henson.

Mr Baker said: “The world and the industry are different now.
“If I could, I would go back and do exactly the same as what I did."
