Charles Durning, renowned character actor who played Doc Hopper in "The Muppet Movie" has died at the age of 89.
He also made a brief appearance in the 1979 special, "The Muppets Go Hollywood".
In 1996, Charles Durning played Santa Claus in the Sesame Street special,
"Elmo Saves Christmas".
Charles Durning died Christmas Eve at his home in New York City of natural causes.
