Christoph Waltz was in talks for the role, but the Austrian actor’s schedule prevented the studio from making a deal.
The adventure moves from Hollywood to Europe, and while the film is expected to have a slew of cameos -- as is the Muppets' movie tradition -- one of the key roles is an Interpol inspector, whom Burrell will portray. (Another notable character is a Russian femme fatale.)
Burrell has won a slew of awards for his comedy work in Modern Family, including an Emmy in 2011 for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series.
My Thoughts:
A very smart casting decision I would say. Disney knows exactly what they are getting here. Name recognition and the popularity of "Modern Family" can only add to the excitement. I must admit, I do not watch "Modern Family" so I really am not familiar with his comedic talents. However, I am always hearing good things about the show from others and all the awards and an Emmy in 2011 does say a lot. Love to hear what others think of this casting. Was it a good choice?
