Henson Independent Properties will distribute a range of interstitial content for international television networks and digital platforms based on the property, which is already a successful consumer brand in Asia.
Henson claimed the I Love Egg animated shorts have attracted millions of views on YouTube and on TV networks such as Cartoon Network in Japan.
“This interstitial programming appeals to a vast audience ranging in age from preschool to tweens and has enormous potential for development as a traditional animated series, especially with the support of the merchandising campaign that will be developed around it,” said Richard Goldsmith, exec VP of global distribution for The Jim Henson Company.
The acquisition marks the first property deal for Henson Independent Properties that includes both international media distribution and global consumer products. D&H will continue to hold the rights to the brand in Asia.
