In the run-up to Mip TV, L.A.-based The Jim Henson Company has teamed up with France’s Cyber Group Studios to co-finance and co-produce two toon series, “Enchanted Sisters” and “Boubouh!”
A fantasy-filled comedy-adventure series based on the eponymous book, “Jim Henson’s Enchanted Sisters” follows four siblings who come together every three months to join their Mother Nature in a ceremony that changes the seasons. “Enchanted Sisters” will be penned by “Anna’s Icy Adventure”‘s author Elise Allen, who previously wrote episodes of “Sid the Science Kid” and “Dinosaur Train.”
Meanwhile, “Boubouh!,” written by Ingrid Chabbert and illustrated by Amandine Duggon, turns on a hairy monster who is frightened of kids. His friendship with a 6-year-old boy forces him to lead a double life.
The agreement was announced today by the Jim Henson Co.’s Halle Stanford, exec VP of children’s entertainment, and Richard Goldsmith, exec VP of global distribution and international consumer products, and Pierre Sissmann, Cyber Group Studios’ chairman and CEO. The animation for both series will be produced at Cyber Group Studios. The Jim Henson Co.’s CEO Lisa Henson and Stanford will serve as executive producers.
“In building out a new fantasy world for older kids that will feature the visual excellence we are known for, we are grateful to partner with Cyber Group Studios, whose quality animation and top-tier creative team will be sure to serve the rich, exciting stories of Enchanted Sisters very well,” said Stanford, who also added that “Enchanted Sisters” had a “very European fantasy flair.” The Henson Co. recently produced the Emmy-nominated “Sid the Science Kid,” “Dinosaur Train,” and “Pajanimals.” Headquartered in Paris and founded by Sissmann, former boss of Disney Europe, Cyber Group Studios won the 2014 Pulcinella international studio of the year prize.
