Los Angeles-based Boom! Studios has been a fearless champion of Jim Henson's magical fantasy worlds from both 'The Dark Crystal' and 'Labyrinth' feature films, presenting a number of absorbing comic book miniseries expanding on those properties' official mythologies.
Today Boom! and their dark fantasy imprint, Archaia, have taken the wrappers off the latest project emanating from the wild imagination of Jim Henson titled 'Labyrinth: Under The Spell'. Writer S.M. Vidaurri (Steven Universe: Harmony) and artist Sarah Webb (Kochab) enter into the rich, spellbinding realm matched with the talents of Sina Grace (Iceman), Boya Sun (5 Worlds), and Michael Dialynas (The Woods).
This fresh gathering of adventurous stories stars the odd and inspiring characters of Jim Henson’s 1986 fantasy cult classic, 'Labyrinth', and reveals the secret history of Sir Didymus and the promise he made to protect the bridge over the Bog of Eternal Stench. Brimming with a bounty of tales told from the heart of the Goblin Kingdom, Under the Spell features a striking main cover by Rebekah Isaacs (The Thirteenth Doctor), a preorder cover by illustrator Richey Beckett, and a special incentive variant from Jeremy A. Bastian (Cursed Pirate Girl).
“Labyrinth introduced fans to a world of endless imagination where anything is possible. There are always new corners to be explored and new revelations to be uncovered,” Boom! editor Cameron Chittock explains. “Under The Spell #1shines light on fan favorite characters and introduces all new creatures to the canon, building on the ever-expanding world Jim Henson created.”
